From 2020 to 2024, VNHIP collaborated with the Research Center for Inclusion (RCI) and local partners to implement a project to improve access to quality education for children with disabilities in Quang Tri and Quang Nam Provinces, Vietnam.

Our Goals

✔️ Enhance teachers’ capacity through specialized training on inclusive education strategies.
✔️ Establish “Support Units for Inclusive Education (SUIE)” within schools to provide tailored support.
✔️ Promote students’ engagement through leadership programs, outdoor learning activities, and life skills development.
✔️ Advocate for policy implementation by collaborating with educational authorities.
By directly benefiting 240 children with disabilities, 70 teachers, and 240 parents, this initiative created sustainable models of inclusive education, ensuring that all children, regardless of their ability, have the opportunity to learn and thrive.

My Dream Cake Shop: The Inspiring Journey of Nguyen Ngoc Ha

Born with congenital scoliosis, 12-year-old Nguyen Ngoc Ha experiences physical challenges that make daily life more difficult. Despite undergoing multiple spinal adjustments, she remains a determined student with a passion for art and a dream of becoming a cake baker.
With support from VNHIP, Ha had the opportunity to participate in creative activities, gain confidence, and express herself through her paintings.

Trang: Overcoming Challenges with Support and Determination

At just 2 years old, life took an unexpected turn for Le Thi My Trang. A high fever resulted in encephalitis, which left her paralyzed on one side of her body. Since then, she has faced immense challenges in mobility and daily activities. However, despite these obstacles, Trang remains determined.
With the unwavering support of her teachers, family, and two devoted friends, Trang continues to thrive academically and socially. Thanks to VNHIP’s assistance, she now has a wheelchair and goes to school, allowing her to live her life to the fullest.

A Mother’s Journey: Supporting My Son with Hearing Impairment

“As a mother, watching my son struggle with hearing loss has been heartbreaking. Despite wearing a hearing aid, Thanh has faced many challenges in school, including difficulty fully grasping lessons and communicating. At times, I felt helpless, unsure of how to support him.” Thanh’s mom wholeheartedly shared.

“But thanks to his dedicated teachers and the resources provided by VNHIP, Thanh now receives extra support in an integration room where he learns life skills and gains confidence. I, too, have learned from training sessions with other parents that my child has unique talents beyond traditional subjects. He shines in art, loves football, and even learns to fix electrical appliances on his own”.

Breaking Barriers: The Inspiring Journey of Bảo Trân

Every child learns at their own pace, but for Bảo Trân, the journey was filled with many challenges. Struggling with intellectual disabilities, she found it difficult to keep up with her classmates and often felt isolated or left behind. However, with the unwavering support of her dedicated teacher, her loving family, and the inclusive education program sponsored by VNHIP, Trân slowly began to blossom.

From a shy, withdrawn girl to a confident, engaged student, Trân’s story is a testament to the power of patience, compassion, and inclusive education. This heartwarming journey reminds us that with the right guidance, every child has the potential to thrive.

A Journey of Love for Children with Disabilities

Ms. Hong shared her graceful experience of teaching children with disabilities –
“For nearly three decades, I have dedicated my life to teaching not only typical students but also children with disabilities, those with Down syndrome, Autism, and intellectual challenges. Each child has their own unique struggles, from learning to sit still to mastering basic life skills. Teaching them requires patience, creativity, and most importantly, love.

There were moments of doubt, but also moments of immense joy, like the day a student proudly told me, ‘Teacher, I can write now!’ That simple sentence reminded me why I do this work.” Ms. Hong shared her graceful experience of teaching children with disabilities.

Finding Hope in Education: Hồng Nguyệt’s Journey

For sweet Đặng Thị Hồng Nguyệt, learning has never been easy. As the eldest of three sisters in a working-class family, she struggled with memory loss, which made keeping up in school a daily challenge. The COVID-19 pandemic only widened the gap, leaving her feeling discouraged and even considering dropping out.

But thanks to VNHIP’s intervention, Nguyệt received the support she desperately needed. With the guidance of a dedicated special education teacher, she regained her confidence and slowly caught up with her classmates. Her enthusiasm for learning returned, and she now proudly says, “I love Ms. Lan! She makes learning fun and easy to understand.”
