HIV continues to be a growing public health problem in Vietnam, with Mother-to-Child-Transmission (MTCT) being a driving cause. The disease is often undetected or unreported, leaving families without official diagnoses and the right support until the condition worsens.

In rural Vietnam, HIV often carries a negative social stigma. Families are ostracized, children banned from schools, excluded by their peers, and overall isolated from their communities. Because of this, families usually relocate and avoid seeking medical care or even seek HIV screening altogether. The majority of children who are living with HIV are orphans being raised by their grandparents with limited resources.

VNHIP continually works with families to address both unstable income and the associated stigma with HIV through education and awareness campaigns in communities and schools. We ensure that the children have access to consistent medications, coordinate travel to Ho Chi Minh City for specialized treatments when needed, and create education and awareness campaigns. Currently, VNHIP supports 30 children living with HIV spanning Quang Nam Province and Da Nang City.

Our Goal

To improve health, well-being, and quality of life for children living with HIV.

Our Approach

We will succeed are goal through providing medical support, education, life skills development training, and creating community awareness campaigns.

Our Focus Areas

Awareness and Stigma Reduction

Develop and implement behavior change communication campaigns to raise awareness and reduce stigma surrounding children with HIV.

Family Support

Provide grants to families to have basic needs such as food, safe water, shelter, clothing, and sanitation. We also provide loans to families to build sustainable livelihoods.

Education and Inclusion

Collaborate with teachers and parents to create an inclusive environment for children living with HIV at schools. Through scholarships, school supplies, meals, clothing, and transportation support, we remove the barriers that keep children from learning. We also organize social events and life-skills training to help these children build confidence and thrive

Health & Care Support

Partnering with local health services and organizations to ensure children at risk can receive early HIV screening, comprehensive medical and dental care, and reliable access to medication. For children without caregivers, we connect them with nurturing orphanage centers so no child faces their journey alone.
